Activities

Student Council meets twice a month (Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m.) to plan fun events to create a positive school culture. In the past, we organized dances, school-wide activities, senior citizen dinners, and a Lucky Book activity in the library. This year we are planning contests and other activities that can be done in-person. The students choose what activities and events they think their classmates will enjoy and we run with it. We are also planning to help with the Safe to Say program.

Students will plan and implement literary discussions, creative writing activities, and create various forms of art such as: poems, short stories, paintings, sketches, photography, and digital drawings. Members will work with the Yearbook Staff to plan the color-scheme, fonts and cover image for the middle school literary magazine/yearbook. In addition, students will edit and organize student art submissions and learn how to generate double-spreads of the artwork using the Walsworth Publication software. At the end of the year, students will publish their Literary Magazine pages in the middle school literary magazine/yearbook Lasting Impressions. Click here to sign up for Literary Magazine.

Avonworth Eats is a club for students who enjoy cooking and baking! We will try new recipes, practice cooking techniques, and create unique food combinations. Membership is open to all middle school students, but club capacity is limited to 15 students. There is a $5 fee for each student to cover the cost of food supplies.

TSA is a technology driven club that promotes STEM. Activities range from problem solving to public speaking. If you are interested in design and technology, give TSA a try.

SCC is a coding club for students who enjoy creating with code! Membership is open to all students and experience levels (Scratch, Python, etc.). We will focus on making fun projects and this club is run by high school students!
